Firstly I'd like to say, I'm glad to be back! Secondly I'm making this possibly a two part rant or more soooo let's get to it shall we?
I'd like to say I am proud to be a woman of color. I'm proud of my dark skin, my soft coils that I can style however I see fit providing I have the cash and time. What I dislike is the blindness I see in the black community if such a thing even exists. Yes I question this. A community should stick together to help one another out. Once upon a time this rang true. Sadly when those of fair skin power was far stronger than what it is now... scratch that more actively showing when not behind a badge (see next blog) sure every community has it's bad apples but how can we people of color thrive and continue to survive when all is done is us tearing each other down? We divide ourselves by shade of skin when no matter what you're seen as black to the white man. We divide between good hair bad hair, weave, natural, relaxer etc when how one chooses to wear their locks is their choice. We judge by the clothes one does or doesn't wear if our pants are low enough who has the most baby mommas, welfare reliability, talking and acting like the stereotype we are portrayed as, who commits the most crime instead of how far we can educate ourselves to make money we deserve, who's the baddest bitch vs unleashing our inner goddess because last I checked I'd rather be a deity vs being a dog. The way I see it the white man is not needed to tear us down or kill us off no... we're doing it to ourselves. Instead of showing to ourselves and the world it too belongs to us, we show we can't handle anything outside of jail bait dress codes, loud mouth thugs who think it's ok to kill each other off but wrong for the white man to do it.
